Spain's Rafael Nadal has won a record 10th French Open tennis title on Sunday.

He beat Stan Wawrinka in straight sets in Paris, winning 6-2 6-3 6-1.

He becomes the first man to win the same grand slam ten times in the Open era.

The 31-year-old claimed his 15th Grand Slam title and moves into second place on the all-time list, behind his great rival Roger Federer.

"I play my best in all events," he said afterwards, adding: "but the feeling I have here is impossible to describe and you can't compare it.

"The nerves and adrenaline I feel on this court is impossible to compare. It's the most important event in my career."

Wawrinka was sportsmanlike afterwards, congratulating the Spaniard. "Rafa, I have nothing to say about today. You were too good.

"You are a great example and it's always been an honour to play against you. Congratulations on your career, to you and your team."
