Rafael Nadal has won a record eighth French Open title, with a straight sets win over compatriot David Ferrer. Nadal took the opening three sets 6-3, 6-2, 6-3.
Nadal now has a record at Roland Garros of 59-1. His current form is as impressive as his form in France, with 22 consecutive wins now under his belt, along with reaching the final of all nine tournaments he has entered since returning from a long term knee injury in February.
The final was briefly interrupted by a shirtless, masked man running onto the court with a lit flare. Three others were also removed from the stadium in connection with the incident.
