Pre-tournament favourite Rafa Nadal recovered from an early scare during his opening round match at the French Open.

Nadal lost the opening set of his first round match against German Daniel Brands and only won the second set in a tie break, but the Spaniard then powered clear to win the next 2 sets, 6-4, 6-3 to advance to the second round.
