Rafa Nadal and Novak Djokovic will collide in the French Open quarter-finals after advancing from their respective last-16 matches.

Nadal defeated Jack Sock 6-3 6-1 5-7 6-2, while his Serbian rival Djokovic saw off local favourite Richard Gasquet 6-1 6-2 6-3 in today's action at Roland Garros.

Andy Murray and Roger Federer are also both through to the quarters after wins earlier against Jeremy Chardy and Gael Monfils respectively.

Murray will now go on to face Spaniard David Ferrer.

In the women's competition, Serena Williams barely scraped through against Sloane Stephens, but Maria Sharapova was not so lucky. The Russian was dumped out of the competition by Lucie Safarova.
