Cork defender Brian Murphy has rejoined the county’s senior hurling panel. The news as revealed on the Cork GAA website this evening is a massive boost Jimmy Barry Murphy’s charges ahead of their Munster semi-final against Waterford on 7 June.
The Rebel County’s backline cover has been weakened in recent weeks with Christopher Joyce and Lorcán McLoughlin both injured while Conor O’Sullivan has departed the panel.
All-Ireland winner Murphy called time on his inter-county career in the wake of the 2013 All-Ireland final replay loss to Clare.
Murphy won two All-Ireland senior hurling medals with Cork in 2004 and 2005 while he was the Young Hurler of the Year in 2004 and also an All-star winner in 2006 in his first stint with the county.
