Munster's Guinness PRO14 game away to Benetton has been postponed.

The Italian side are unable to fulfil a fixture for the second week running due to a number of COVID-19 cases.

Benetton were due to travel to the Sportsground to play Connacht last weekend, but that match was also postponed.

Benetton say three players tested positive for COVID-19 in their latest battery of tests, while four others are also isolating as they're close contacts.

They say it's only appropriate to postpone Saturday's fixture at the Stadio Monigo.

PRO14 are to look at potential dates regarding the rearranging of the match.

The postponement will give some of Munster's walking wounded time to recover. Jean Kleyn trained fully today having been taken off in the final 20-minutes of last week's win over the Dragons.

Chris Cloete was a late withdrawal from the playing squad for last week's game, but his neck problem is not a severe one and the flanker is not expected to be a long-term absentee.

Darren Sweetnam has a knee injury that requires continual assessment, while Rhys Marshall and Roman Salanoa are rehabbing respective low-grade thigh injuries.

Dan Goggin underwent a scan on his shoulder last week and continues to rehab with the medical department.

Munster statement:

The Round 5 Guinness PRO14 fixture between Benetton Rugby and Munster Rugby has been postponed.

The game was due to take place on Saturday, November 7 in Treviso, however, Benetton have reported that three players have returned positive cases of Covid-19 and that four other players identified as close contacts are now isolating.

Having considered all of the available evidence, the PRO14 Rugby Medical Advisory Group has deemed that this fixture cannot go ahead as scheduled.

PRO14 Rugby will examine potential dates in early 2021 to reschedule the game.
