Manchester United manager David Moyes has confirmed that he will once again be without Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie for this weekend's Premier League clash with Swansea.
United have sent Rooney to a warm weather training along with his family in an attempt to help him recover from a recurring groin injury.
Moyes, who is targeting the Chelsea game on Sunday January 19th as a potential return date for his striker, is hoping that a break away from the English winter will do Rooney some good.
He said: "His groin hasn't quite recovered yet. We've sent our fitness coach with him. He's away with the family. We'll give Wayne a bit of a break. I always hoped I'd be able to do that at some point in the season. His groin isn't quite as good as we'd hoped in this moment in time."
Van Persie has not played since last month's Champions League clash with Shaktar Donetsk but remains out of action for "a little while".
On Off The Ball last month, Dutch fitness coach Raymond Verheijen claimed that Moyes' training methods had contributed to Van Persie's issues this season.
Meanwhile, Moyes has been charged with misconduct by the Football Association for comments he made about the referee following their League Cup semi-final first leg defeat to Sunderland.
It is alleged that he called into question the integrity of the officials and brought the game into disrepute.
Moyes has until next Wednesday to respond.
