New Manchester United boss David Moyes has insisted that the club will not sell Wayne Rooney.

The England striker has reportedly asked to leave Old Trafford this summer.

But in his first press conference after succeeding Alex Ferguson, Moyes has confirmed that he has spoken to Rooney and is adamant that he will "remain a Manchester United player".

However, Moyes avoided saying if Rooney had categorically told him that he now wanted to stay at the club.
