Over three months into the new season, Manchester United are still underwhelming, both in the Premier League and in Europe.

Off The Ball spoke to Man United fanzine editor Andy Mitten about the tactical changes to the club ahead of tonight's match against Bayer Leverkusen.

Having watched United closely during Moyes' bedding in period, he believes Man United have become more defensive under Fergie's successor.

"I think it's different in the same way that Barcelona are different this season compared to last year. [Man United] remain similar because it's the same players but they are more defensive and conservative. I'm watching Wayne Rooney get back into midfield partly out of necessity because the midfield aren't always doing their job," he said.

Mitten also touched on the way in which Kagawa has been used out wide in recent months.

"I think David Moyes loves the idea of using wingers but then he changes. He changes all the time. What is Shinji Kagawa's best position? That's a question that's been put to Moyes. German fans talk about Kagawa as a world class player but United fans haven't seen that. Germans can't understand why he is not played in a central role. I still think David Moyes is still feeling his way into the club. I think it will take him a year and he's telling people privately that he has a huge job to do."
