Manchester United boss David Moyes has confirmed that the club have made a second bid for Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas.
The club have confirmed that they have increased their initial offer for the former Arsenal star. The bid is said to be €35 million plus unspecified add ons.
Executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward returned to the UK ahead of schedule last Wednesday to carry out some "urgent transfer business".
"At this moment in time I can only tell you that Ed is working hard trying to make the deals happen," said Moyes of the Fabregas situation.
"We can only hope that some of them fall into place shortly."
Officially at least, Barcelona have said that they hope to keep hold of Fabregas and the Catalan is believed to hold out hope of staying at the Camp Nou.
United's pursuit of the player is also thought to be complicated by the departure of Barca manager Tito Villanova.
