Mount Leinster Rangers have become the first ever Leinster Hurling Champions from Carlow and in the process pulled off one of the most shocking results in recent club hurling history, while also consigning Oulart the Ballagh to a fourth consecutive Leisnter final.

The Carlow champions stunned Wexford’s Oulart the Ballagh by 11 points to 8 at Nowlan Park in Kilkenny this afternoon.

Today was a notable day for Carlow hurling regardless of the result as it was the first time a Carlow club had ever even contested a Leinster final.

Oulart led 5 points to 3 at the break but a series of wides in the second half allowed Mount Leinster Rangers to stay in touch before going ahead with some good scoring late on, eventually outscoring Oulart 8 to 3 in the second half.
