Ulster have confirmed that Stephen Ferris has gone under the knife to repair an ankle tendon injury.

The flanker has been out of action for over a month after he suffered the injury during a game against Edinburgh at the start of November. The injury kept Ferris out of Ireland's November International Series, but the province have now accepted that surgery is the only way to solve the problem.
