Manchester United have been mentioned as the likely destination for Sevilla's sporting director, Monchi, after news broke last night that one of the main men behind the Spanish side's recent European success was leaving the club.

The 47-year-old is reportedly considering a "dizzying offer" from United with Jose Mourinho said to be a big fan of the Spaniard's work.

Monchi's has helped seal nine tropies for Sevilla in the last decade along with making approximately €200 million profit in the transfer market. He continously replaced some of the best talents in world football with cheaper options before selling them and starting the process again.

The name might not be familiar to most but many of the footballers he bought and sold at a massive profit will be. The likes of Dani Alves, Ivan Rakitic and Carlos Bacca to name a few along with Sergio Ramos and Alberto Moreno, who came through the youth setup and moved on to bigger clubs are some of the finest examples of Monchi's skills as a director of football.

One of the most recent examples, Kevin Gameiro, was rescued from obscurity and a flagging career by Monchi. He helped fire Sevilla to European glory with 29 goals in all competitions and the Frenchman is poised to move on this summer at a massive profit as one of Monchi's departing acts.

United are keen to keep up with rivals Manchester City, who hired Txiki Begiristain as their director of football in 2012, having struggled in recent transfer markets to identify and bring in the kind of talent that will ensure they challenge for silverware both domestically and in Europe in the coming years.
