Monaghan are through to a third successive Ulster final after beating neighbours Fermanagh by 1-20 to 0-13 at Breffni Park.

The teams were level five times during the first half but a 35th-minute Conor McManus free followed by a Darren Hughes point handed Monaghan a narrow 0-7 to 0-5 lead at the interval.

The Second half started off at a ferocious pace with eight points being registered in the opening ten minutes of the second half. Christopher McGuinness’ point had five between the sides and McManus’ free was cancelled out by Declan McCusker and the score was 0-14 to 0-9 with 20 minutes remaining.

Disaster struck for Fermanagh 13 minutes from time when centre back McCluskey was shown a straight red card with only three between the sides.

McManus ended the match as a contest when he pounced for a major in the 64th minute.

The final minutes was hectic as Monaghan midfielder Darren Hughes was dismissed for a second yellow card offence and Monaghan substitute Stephen Gollogly saw his penalty saved by Thomas Treacy. Monaghan notched a few more score in the final minutes and won by a comfortable 10 points.

Donegal or Derry awaits Monaghan in the final whereas the qualifiers await Fermanagh.
