Michael Hoey is within three shots of the lead at golf's Hero Indian Open.

The Northern Irishman carded a second 71 in a row to sit on 2-under overall.

It could have been ever better for Hoey but for a double bogey on the Par 4 6th.

Otherwise, he birdied five holes, including consecutive ones on the 8th and 9th holes.

Defending champion SSP Chawrasia is the leader at the halfway point on 5-under although some players still have to complete their Round 2 after play was suspended.

Chawrasia had a flawless bogey free 67 to move to 5-under, one ahead of the field, with England's David Horsey second after carding a 74 to slip back from the 66 he had carded in Round 1.

Italy's Matteo Manassero and England's Eddie Pepperell are tied for third on 3-under, although both are still to finish their second rounds.

Meanwhile, Ireland's Paul Dunne is also in the same boat on 2-over after his second round. That leaves the Greystones golfer in a tie for 24th place.

However, he still has 10 holes still to play in his second round. Two birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey on the 5th were the sum of his first eight holes.
