If we can sum up today's action on Day 1 at the Open, it's been a good one for leader Dustin Johnson and 2015's two-time Major winner Jordan Spieth is lurking close behind.

Off The Ball's Joe Molloy is at St Andrew's for us this weekend and he was joined by former PGA Tour caddie and ESPN golf writer Michael Collins, who had some turns of phrase to describe the travails of Tiger Woods, who slumped yet again on the big stage.

"That dude used to be Superman, so we're used to seeing him with the cape and Superman outfit. And then he goes out on the golf course and he's Clark Kent and he's getting beat up in the parking lot by an old lady. And you're like 'man, change into Superman. What's wrong?'"

Collins also restricted himself to a 'nah' when Joe asked him if Woods can ever get back to a point where he can win another Major.

He also tipped Paul Lawrie, who is just one off the lead, to be a threat at this year's tournament.

"That dude scares me a little bit because he's like this year's old guy. He's like Darren Clarke or what Tom Watson did a few years ago," he said.
