Lionel Messi could be facing jail time after being told that he will face a trial on charges of tax evasion.

The Barcelona star has been told that he must appear before a Spanish court to answer charges of tax fraud of more than €4 million.

The 25-year-old and his father have both been charged and if he is convicted, he could be facing up to six years in prison.
