This week Barcelona officially announced that they will not offer Lionel Messi a new contract to match the €20 million per year deal that Cristiano Ronaldo penned with Real Madrid.
As it stands, the Argentine still has four and a half years to run on his current deal but our European football correspondent Graham Hunter told us that he can envisage a situation where Barcelona push Messi out of the club.
"I don't particularly like the atmosphere surrounding Messi at the club. My suspicion is that, in due course, this President [Sandro Rosell] is of a mind to develop Neymar and sign other players to create "his Messi". The way a club treats its leading player can bring a scenario where the player wants to leave. And it can be done subtly and if you are being offered €250 million from an oil-rich club which can buy the vanity project stadium that you're planning on building...I have my doubts now about how Messi's love affair with Barcelona will end."
