Rory McIlroy's on-course struggles are continuing after dropping outside the cut at the US PGA.
The defending champion seemed to be showing signs of a return to form yesterday when he carded a 1-under par 69 for his opening round.
But a disastrous opening nine holes today, which featured four bogeys, a double-bogey means that McIlroy is now back to 3-over par for the tournament, with the projected cut at 2-over.
The world number three is now 11 shots off the lead, with Masters champion Adam Scott climbing to 8-under par and into a 3-shot lead over the rest of the field.
Overnight leader Jim Furyk is now in second place on 5-under after Lee Westwood dropped a shot to slip back to 4-under.
McIlroy's collapse means that Darren Clarke is now the leading Irish player in the field.
He is back to level par for his round, leaving him on 1-under overall.
Graeme McDowell, Shane Lowry and Padraig Harrington will all tee-off later this evening.
But European Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley is struggling badly on 10-over par.
