Rory McIlroy faces a fine from the European Tour after throwing his club in frustration following a poor second shot leading into the 17th at the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth.

It is not the first time this season that McIlroy has lost his temper. The World No 1 hurled his three iron into a lake at the WGC-Cadillac Championship in Doral back in March.

It is also not the first time that the Holywood man has thrown a club in anger at Wentworth, doing so in 2012.
