Rory Mc Ilroy finished just 2 shots off the lead at the Texas Open, as the build up to next weekend's Masters in Augusta continues.

The World number 2, who has yet to win a title in 2013, ended on 12 under par following a final day 66. But he will be optimistic of making an impact in the first Major of the year after showing signs of a return to form in Texas.

Martin Laird won the tournament by two shots on 14 under as McIlroy carded eight birdies and two bogies as he closed a four stroke gap to two.

Padraig Harrington ended tied for tenth on 7 under while Shane Lowry finished on 4 under after a final round of 70.
