Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley has played down the significance of Sergio Garcia’s comments about Tiger Woods.

McGinely told BBC Radio Five Live, "I think there's a personality clash and they don't particularly like each other's company.”

He played down the importance of the remarks, and rejected the idea he would leave Garcia out of his Ryder Cup squad based on the incident.

"For me, it's no big deal."

"I don't think [I would leave him out].

"I'd have to weigh up all the options and seek counsel.

"I was there when Sergio made the comment. He apologised for it and, as far as I'm concerned, we move on.

"People make mistakes and say things all the time that they regret and didn't mean. Sergio was very remorseful about it and we move on."

Garcia is one of the most experienced Ryder Cup players still playing, with 6 appearances under his belt.
