Aiden McGeady has signed for Everton on a four-and-a-half year deal. The winger has joined from Spartak Moscow for an undisclosed fee.

The Ireland international was presented to the crowd at Goodison Park before this afternoon’s Premier League game against Norwich City. He becomes the fourth Irish player at the club, joining Seamus Coleman, Darron Gibson and James McCarthy in Roberto Martinez’s squad.

McGeady had been expected to stay in Moscow for the remainder of the season as his contract expires in the summer, however Roberto Martinez was insistent on bring the former Celtic man in during the current transfer window.

McGeady left Glasgow for the Russian capital in 2010 for a transfer fee of €11.5m and helped Spartak to second place in the league in the 2011/12 season. He played 93 games for the Russian club; scoring 13 times but his time had begun to draw to a close when he fell out with manager Valery Karpin in November. McGeady was forced to train with the reserve side in the aftermath of the falling out.
