Tommy McCarthy has missed-out on a medal at the European Boxing Championships in Belarus.
The young Belfast heavyweight was beaten by Teymur Mammadou of Azerbaijan in their quarter-final.
McCarthy produced a strong performance against the defending champion, winning the final round, but he lost 29 - 28 on all 3 cards.
That was the first defeat for the Irish squad in Minsk today as John Joe Nevin, Paddy Barnes and Jason Quigley all guaranteed themselves at least bronze medals.
Nevin won all three rounds of his quarter final against Krisztian Nagy of Hungary while Barnes won on a split decision.
Quigley is also through to the semi-finals of the middleweight division after beating his German opponent on a unanimous decision.
Later this evening, Michael Conlon fights for a medal in the flyweight division.
