Mayo footballer Tom Cunniffe will not return to the county senior football set-up ahead of the 2016 championship and intends to go travelling instead.

Reported by The Mayo News today, Cunniffe has decided not to take manager Stephen Rochford on his offer to rejoin the county senior football team.

Cunniffe has only featured for his club side, Castlebar Mitchels, so far this year and helped them to an All-Ireland final with Dublin side Ballyboden St. Enda's.

The defender last featured for Mayo in their All-Ireland quarter-final win over Donegal last August, but was withdrawn with a hamstring injury. His club commitments have meant he has not featured for Mayo over the course of the league campaign.
