Juan Mata is sure Manchester United team-mate David De Gea will be "professional", after a move to Real Madrid broke down.
The necessary paperwork was not submitted before the Spanish transfer deadline on Monday night.
De Gea had been linked with Madrid all summer, contributing to him not yet playing for United this season.
But despite worries over the Spain international's state of mind going forward, Mata says the goalkeeper will come out of the other end of this.
"He's my friend, I wish the best for him but I'm sure he is going to manage the situation very well because he's always done it," he said.
Mata also added that: "He seems the same as ever to me. He’s calm, relaxed. He has a naturally calm personality. These have been difficult days but he is OK."
