World champion Mark Selby has booked his place in the final of snooker's UK Championship.

The 33-year-old Leicester native beat fellow Englishman and former 2008 winner Shaun Murphy by 6 frames to 2 in York.

He will hope to win the tournament for the second time, having previously done so in December 2012 also against Murphy.

Selby has won the Paul Hunter Classic and the International Championship during the 2016-17 season so far.

He will take on Ronnie O'Sullivan or Marco Fu in tomorrow's final.

That pair meet later tonight in their semi-final match.

O'Sullivan has already won the UK Championship five times during his career, last doing so in 2014.

Victory in this year's tournament would move him level with Steve Davis on the all-time list of UK Championship winners with six triumphs.

Fergal O'Brien was the best Irish performer at this year's tournament, reaching the last-32 where he lost to Scotland's Stephen Maguire by 6 frames to 5.
