Mario Balotelli might not be doing enough to make it into the Liverpool first team, but are we seeing signs of a more mature player?

Football writer Gabriele Marcotti joined us on Off The Ball and suggested that some of the eccentric behaviour seems to have petered out despite the frustration of being left out by manager Brendan Rodgers.

"We are seeing a different Mario Balotelli at Liverpool in terms of personality. He's not had those moments of indiscipline. He's not lashed out or said certain things," said Marcotti.

He believes the fact that Balotelli is still at the club this late into the transfer window suggests that Liverpool have not been able to find suitors even for a loan deal.

With his behaviour seemingly improved, Marcotti thinks that he may do better on the pitch with a different team and manager.

"Maybe, people put expectations too high on him. If things really don't work out, I don't think it's going to be that difficult to find someone who will take him on loan over the summer and once again it'll be up to him," said Marcotti.
