According to Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini, a long list of injuries is crippling his side's momentum in the Premier League.

Currently, Manchester City have just '13 or 14' fit players to rely on, with Yaya Toure, Sergio Aguero, Vincent Kompany, Fernanado, Pablo Zabaleta and Samir Nasri all absent from the starting 11 who went down 2-0 to Stoke yesterday.

Explaining their situation, Pellegrini said:

'We're playing the same players as in the last three games. Maybe it's the reason we didn't play with the energy that we need to win. We play very bad because we are playing with the same players, and nothing much more happens. Without doubt the players didn't recover from the last two games.'

With just 21 in the squad, when you subtract the five wounded players and their third-choice goalkeeper Richard Wright from the pack, the 15 remaining players were either starting or among the substitutes at the Britannia stadium yesterday.

Despite the number of casualties in the team, Manchester City are still just three points shy of the leaders Leicester in the Premier League. And beyond the domestic competitions, they are also into the last 16 of the Champions League, with their last group game against Borussia Monchengladbach coming up next Tuesday.

Yaya Toure, striker Aguero and defenders Kompany and Zabaleta are all due back in December, while Nasri will not be fit to return until next April. Fernando's hamstring injury is yet to be assessed.
