Manchester City have been granted planning permission to expand the capacity of their stadium to about 62,000.
An extra 14,500 seats will be added to the venue which was originally built for the 2002 Commonwealth Games.
The increased capacity will make Eastlands the second largest stadium in the Premier League behind Manchester United's Old Trafford.
