Matthew Macklin has responded to Andy Lee’s call for an Irish middleweight super-fight between the pair with a yes and billed the fight as “the biggest Irish fight for at least a decade.”

Macklin spoke to Off the Ball today to respond to Lee’s call for a bout between the two – made by Lee on Thursday night’s Off the Ball – and told Ger Gilroy: “From my point of view I’ve always been up for the fight with Andy...it seems to me, without knowing the facts, that it just looks like he’s desperate for a big fight, a big payday. Whatever the reason it’s good news for me anyway because it’s a fight I’ve always been interested in and it’s probably the biggest Irish fight for at least a decade.”
