Luke Fitzgerald is facing a race to be fit for this Autumn's Rugby World Cup.

The Leinster winger had surgery on his shoulder at the weekend to repair an injury to his labrum.

He will miss Leinster's remaining games in the Pro 12 and may also be unavailable for Ireland's World Cup warm up games.

Speaking to the press yesterday afternoon, Leinster coach Leo Cullen gave an update on Fitzgerald's injury.

It's the second shoulder injury to hit the Leinster camp in the space of a week. Hooker Sean Cronin will also miss the remainder of the season. he damaged a tendon in his left shoulder.
