One of Arsene Wenger's greatest strengths is the way in which he has built a philosophy of play that all his players adhere to.
However that can also be one of his biggest weaknesses as the Arsenal manager hardly ever makes changes to the style of play or formation.
It has not proved to be much of a problem against weaker teams this season. But against tactically astute managers at the higher end of the scale, Wenger has been found out time and time again as he stands still while they run tactical rings around him.
So it proved against Everton yesterday as Roberto Martinez made one unforeseen adjustment which upset the applecart in a 3 - 0 win for the Toffees.
Playing powerhouse centre-forward Romelu Lukaku on the right wing and positioning Steven Naismith as a quasi-false 9 proved to be a masterstroke and here are the stats and graphics which show how Lukaku bamboozled Arsenal and left back Nacho Monreal.

The graphic above shows how Lukaku dominated Monreal in the air. While the Belgian lost all his headed duels against international team-mate Thomas Vermaelen and Bacary Sagna, the two aerial battles that he won came against Monreal who is a full five inches shorter.
With his pace and power, all three of Lukaku's attempted dribbles paid off as he beat Tomas Rosicky, Santi Cazorla and Monreal along that left flank.
It also interesting to note that Lukaku showed little interest in putting in crosses. Indeed he did not attempt a single cross during the game, concentrating on either linking with team-mates or going for goal.
And as we all remember one of those goals came from a run from the right, which saw him fend off Monreal, and finish into the corner...

Opening goalscorer Naismith's movement was also a problem for the Arsenal defence and this Squawka graphic shows just how hard it was to pin the Scotsman down.
