Lord Scoundrel has won The Tote.com Galway Plate for the Gigginstown House team and trainer Gordon Elliott.

The 14/1 shot won a thrilling battle for the €130,000 top prize in a blanket finish with a trio of Willie Mullins runners finishing in his wake.

Mullins' 16/1 Alelchi Inois finished second, ahead of The Tullow Tank.

The 2014 winner Road to Riches was sent off as the 9/4 favourite, but pulled up after a disappointing display in the in Grade A Handicap Chase.

In the UK, Aidan O'Brien saddled the winner of the big race of the day at Goodwood with 11/8 favourite The Gurkha winning by a neck in the Group 1 Sussex Stakes.
