Jack Sheedy has stepped down as manager of the Longford senior footballers.

The former Dublin footballer informed the Longford County Board's Executive Committee of his decision last night, bringing an end to his two-year tenure in order to devote more time to his family.

Sheedy helped Longford to promotion from Division 4 of the National League this year and also led his side to Championship wins over Offaly, Carlow and Clare this summer, before they were knocked out by Kildare in the qualifiers.
