Liverpool emerged from Villa Park with a 2 - 1 win to leave the hosts in the bottom three of the table.
It started well for Villa as Christian Benteke gave the home side the lead on the half hour mark after finishing off a Gabriel Agbonlahor pass - an advantage they maintained until half-time.
But Jordan Henderson equalised for Liverpool two minutes after the break, deftly finishing off a sublime Philippe Coutinho through ball.
And the tables were turned on the hour mark when Steven Gerrard put the away side ahead from the penalty spot after Luis Suarez was brought down by Nathan Baker.
Benteke had a late strike correctly ruled out for offside as the Villa stay 18th on goal difference.
