If last Sunday was a day of misery then today was almost the perfect day for Liverpool. With the second win of the week – and 4 goals to add to Wednesday’s 5 – Brendan Rodgers’ side went about re-establishing themselves as top 4 contenders while all of their major rivals playing today dropped points.
Luis Suarez added two to his tally of Premier League goals, with a pair of strikes in the final 20 minutes seeing Liverpool stretch their legs and leave West Ham behind. Earlier Liverpool had been up 2-0, with an own goal from Guy Demel added to by Mamdou Sakho. Martin Skrtel scored an own goal to bring West Ham back into the game.
With Manchester United losing in the early kick off and both Chelsea and Manchester City dropping points in their games Liverpool go back to second in the table, 4 points behind Arsenal with the Gunners having a game in hand.
Chelsea went down 3-2 at the Brittania Stadium, with Stephen Ireland getting the second goal. Andre Schurrle scored twice for the visitors but goals from Peter Crouch, Ireland and a stoppage time winner from Oussama Aissaidi gave the Potters the win.
Manchester City also dropped points, with a wonder goal chip from Pablo Osvaldo cancelling out Sergio Aguero’s early goal for City.
Elsewhere Crystal Palace were 2-0 winners over Cardiff City at Selhurst Park and Norwich beat West Brom 2-0 at The Hawthorns.
Spurs face Sudnerland in today’s late kick off, at half 5.
