TV3's Tommy Martin had a bit of a slip of the tongue today at a Republic of Ireland press briefing when he asked defender Alex Pearce if he would "like to rear-end Roy Keane".

Of course, that unintentional innuendo was referring to the minor car crash last night involving the Ireland assistant and Martin O'Neill and as Tommy Martin immediately said his question "came out wrong".

Tommy's seeing the funny side of what happened and on Off The Ball's Newsround, he joined us on the line to tell us:

"So, you get somebody put in front of you. You say something and you think it might be a nice angle to get a nice, quirky remark. So Alex Pearce says a bit of banter about the car crash and I thought, I'll try to get him to say 'I wouldn't like to crash into the back of Roy Keane in my car'. How do I get him to say that. I say 'would you like to rear end Roy Keane?' - which obviously wasn't supposed to be the way it was meant to come out," he said, before joking that he had been sacked.

And as he did say, the term "rear-end" is "legitimate road accident terminology". Listen in via the start of the Newsround podcast.
