Graham Hunter has described Gary Neville's appointment as Valencia Head Coach as "absolutely and utterly fascinating and galvanising for both Spanish and English football".

Newstalk's European Football Correspondent told Oisin Langan that he "can hardly remember a managerial appointment that intrigued me or fascinated me more". Neville's contract runs with the La Liga club until the end of the season.

The Valencia owner Peter Lim, who is a business partner with Neville at Salford City is fascinated by the England international according to Hunter. "Peter Lim is enthralled to Gary Neville's football intelligence"

Hunter calls Neville's footballing brain as "cosmopolitan and free thinking". The former Manchester United defender was the first person Hunter interviewed on his The Big Interview podcast.

"The players that don't buy into him won't be at Valencia for very long", Hunter added. "Gary Neville has absolutely everything in his armoury to make this a powerful and winning Valencia side again". They currently lie in ninth place in La Liga.

Neville takes charge on the team, starting on Sunday. His first game will be against Lyon next week in the Champions League.
