But one injury time goal later and the Saints had to settle for a draw against Polish side Legia Warsaw in the Champions League second round qualifier first leg.

Despite the disappointment of letting a victory slip at the death last week, a 1 - 1 draw is still a fantastic result away from home and gives Pats some hope ahead of tomorrow's second leg at Tallaght Stadium.

With the prospect of facing Celtic on the horizon should they beat Legia, the Saints' manager Liam Buckley was in positive mood when he spoke to Off The Ball tonight.

"If you had said to us beforehand that you'd get a 1 - 1 draw with Legia Warsaw, we certainly would have took that before the game. All things being equal, we're still in the tie which was our objective. We've a lot to play for tomorrow evening," said Buckley, who expects Legia to come out all guns blazing due to Pats' away goal.

"They are a top team. They were the Polish champions last year. I remember being asked by the media last week in the press conference over there if I thought Legia were capable of making the group stages. I felt it was a little bit disrespectful, bearing in mind they had to win a second round against us, they would have to win the third round and then the playoff round," said Buckley, who believes Legia are under pressure over their recent form and expectations.

The former Sporting Fingal and Shamrock Rovers manager also emphasized the importance of keeping possession tomorrow night against a full time professional setup.

That makes Keith Fahey's style and experience extremely important and Buckley also tipped defender Kenny Browne and Killian Brennan's nous.

He also added that he was "grateful" for the fixture scheduling of the SSE Airtricity League and also spoke the prospect of playing Celtic if Pats do get past Legia.
