Australian Open champion Li Na has suffered a shock first round exit at the French Open.

The second seed, who won the tournament at Roland Garros in 2011, was beaten by Kristina Mladenovic of France in three sets, 7-5, 3-6, 6-1.

It comes a day after the Australian Open Men's champion Stanislas Wawrinka was also knocked out in the opening round by Guillermo Garcia-Lopez.
