Reigning Premier League champions Leicester have got themselves into deeper trouble after a 2-0 loss at relegation rivals Swansea City.

It means Claudio Ranieri's side are just a place and a point above the bottom three.

Last May, Leicester made history with a fairytale Premier League title triumph that few expected.

Fast forward less than nine months and the Foxes are enduring a decline few expected.

The match at Swansea provided an opportunity for the champions to try to end a four match run of defeats and edge away from the drop zone.

But they now find themselves perilously close to danger with little room for error.

Swansea took the lead 10 minutes before half time when defender Alfie Mawson volleyed in.

And in first half stoppage time, Leicester's predicament worsened as Swansea left back Martin Olsson blasted in for Paul Clement's side.

Leicester were unable to score during the 90 minutes with Lukasz Fabianksi doing well to deny Leicester's 2016-17 Premier League top scorer Islam Slimani from point blank range.

As the Foxes sit 17th and just one point above Hull, Swansea's recent upturn in form under new boss Clement sees them rise to 15th and four points clear of the relegation zone.
