Leicester City have ended speculation that Ireland boss Martin O'Neill was going to be appointed as their new manager.

The Premier League club have just announced that Italian Claudio Ranieri is their new manager, taking over from Nigel Pearson who was sacked last month.

O'Neill had been linked with a return to the club that he was in charge of in the mid-90's, with some bookmakers suspending betting on the 63-year-old leaving his Ireland job to return to club management.

Ranieri, who has previously managed Roma, Chelsea, Monaco and Valencia among others, was sacked by Greece in November after a disastrous start to their Euro 2016 qualifying campaign which left them bottom of their group.
