Sunderland have lifted a suspension on Adam Johnson, and the winger will return to training.

The England cap was arrested earlier this month on suspicion of sexual activity with a girl under 16, and is on bail until April 23rd.

The club say the player (27) is entitled to re-commence his duties while the legal process continues.

In a statement, Sunderland said: "We recognise that the player is entitled to re-commence his duties with the club while the legal process continues. He will therefore return to training."

The Black Cats appointed new manager Dick Advocaat this week to replace the sacked Gus Poyet.
