Alex Ferguson stepped away from Old Trafford for the last time as manager with a win as Rio Ferdinand's late volley gave Man United  a 2 - 1 win.

Old Trafford was a sea of red as fans paid tribute to their manager and the home side took the lead through Javier Hernandez five minutes before half-time.

But Michu clever finish just after the break threatened to spoil the party atmosphere.

But with three minutes to go - and in time honoured tradition - Ferguson's men found a winner as Ferdinand volleyed in at the back post.
