Kilkenny and Dublin will do it all over again in one week’s time as the Cats needed a last minute point to save their Leinster championship challenge. The All-Ireland champions scored 17 points to match Dublin’s 1-14.
TJ Reid struck a point in injury time to save Kilkenny after Joseph Boland had put the Dubs ahead by one with a free in the dying moments.
Conal Keaney had dragged Dublin back into the tie with a goal just five minutes from the end. Keaney’s strike levelled the scores and he very nearly had a second moments later but was denied by the post.
The replay will take palce at the same venue, O’Moore Park in Portlaoise, next Sunday.
