Chelsea manager Frank Lampard insists Champions League qualification remains in their grasp, despite a disappointing few days.

A demoralising 3-0 defeat away to Sheffield United on Saturday was followed by Manchester City's victory at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Had City been unsuccessful in appealing their two-year European ban, a fifth place finish in the Premier League would have been enough to secure Champions League football.

A bad few days for Chelsea could get even worse on Monday night.

A win for Manchester United over Southampton at Old Trafford, will see Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side vault over Leicester and Chelsea into third.

However, Lampard is concentrating only on Chelsea's games with Norwich, Liverpool and Wolves.

"I genuinely don't see beyond the games in hand," the Chelsea boss said ahead of Tuesday's game at Stamford Bridge.

"We've got a few games now we know that. We want to win them and then see if it gets us European, Champions League football for next season.

Lampard claims City's travails in Lausanne were never part of his thinking, "I was never pinning my hopes on it being an extra team getting in or not, we worry about ourselves.

"If we win enough games now we can get into the Champions League qualification.

"We are sitting third, it is in our hands. I wouldn’t want the players to be thinking that there is an extra place, can we relax a little more? It can’t be the way.

"The pressure is there to get Champions League football. It is just what happened this morning, it is clear now. It’s the position and we have to fight for it."
