Soren Kjeldsen leads by two strokes going into tomorrow's final round of the Irish Open at Royal County Down.

The Dane, whose last win came in 2009, shot a 67 despite bogeying his final two holes finishes the third round on -7.

German Max Kieffer made history at the Newcastle course this afternoon to shoot a course record 65 to lie two shots behind Kjeldsen. His round of 65 included seven birdies and just the sole bogey on the fourth.

Rafa Cabrera-Bello joins Kieffer on -5. The Spaniard has yet to record a top 30 finish on the European Tour this year.

It was a difficult day for the Irish golfers. Padraig Harrington, who started the day just a shot behind the leaders but shot a 78 to lie in tied 36th. The three time major winner shot seven bogeys and one double bogey on his third round card.

Graeme McDowell and Paul McGinley are currently best of the Irish on +3 in a tie for 24th place.

Shane Lowry and Simon Thornton both shot level par 71's for their round today and remain on +4 and +5 respectively.

Former Open champion and local hero Darren Clarke will start tomorrow's final round just inside the top 50. He shot a 72 today to finish on +6.

It was a horror finish for Rickie Fowler who was in contention going on to the 17th tee. He eagled the 16th to go to -2, but scored a quadruple bogey and triple bogey on his final two holes to finish +5.
