Soren Kjeldsen has won the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open after a play-off victory at Royal County Down.

A bogey on 17 meant that the Dane sacrificed his one-stroke lead and had to face off against Eddie Peperrell and Bernd Wiesberger in sudden death.

Kjeldsen needed just one hole to claim the title and said he had to battle against his nerves to secure victory.

"Not having played great for a long time played its part today. If I'd been playing great for a long time, I would have been a little bit more confident. But you could see I was shaking. All our tournaments on the European Tour are great and this one's pretty special as well. It's incredible," he said.

Darren Clarke finished the best of the Irish, on 6-over.

Graeme McDowell ended on 7-over, while Shane Lowry and Padraig Harrington finished on 10-over.

Simon Thornton concluded his week on 14-over.
