Tipperary's league campaign has certainly been unsatisfactory. Lying bottom of the Allianz hurling league after four rounds, Tipp are in real danger of ending up in a relegation playoff and Christy O'Connor told us that the absence of a philosophy of play is evident.

"With Tipp, the one thing that strikes me most is that they have no identity at the moment. [Having an identity] was the one thing that was evident about Tipp when Eamon O'Shea was there in the past. O'Shea was really the architect of their brilliant forward play and the way they interchange and the way they used space. Tipp at the moment look like a team that is devoid of confidence and have no real pattern to their play."

Many will argue that Kilkenny have also struggled a little bit but O'Connor pointed out that Brian Cody has experimented and used 30 players during the campaign.

"If you look at Kilkenny, they were unlucky to lose in the first game. They were 10 points down against Tipp and came back and what does that say about Tipp more so than Kilkenny. They beat Galway and last Saturday I would be more inclined to give Dublin more credit than criticize Kilkenny."

But O'Connor did note a few problems that the Cats will have to contend with.

"I think pace is going to be the biggest issue for Kilkenny. A lot of their older players, I don't think you can make those guys any faster and I think the way the game has gone, I think pace is going to be a massive factor."
